The original women’s shirt, the Camis, came to fruition during the Renaissance in Tuscany, Italy. Before this era of celebratory exploration, the tunic was the closest shape women were working with as a separate piece, which was intended to be worn under their attire rather than out for display.
Women began making their own Camises in their homes, shaping linen to their feminine contours and embellishing the seams with glimmering thread and stitchwork. These burgeoning garments were crafted to make an intentional appearance through their dresses by flouncing the neckline or embossing the openings of sleeves.
It wasn’t until the late 19th century that the blouse, known as “waists” at the time, made its amicable entrance into most women’s casual wardrobes in the West. By World War I, women’s shirts became completely commonplace for a variety of occasions.

Our blouses and button ups are adorned with at least 23 stitches per inch, making the seams invisible. The intricacy of the threads also allows collars to lay flawlessly no matter their shape, and it’s always bound from the outside for the enjoyment of indulgent fabric against the skin.
