2022 Wedding Trends Your Daughter May be Following

This year is an incredibly special time for weddings. As many brides have had to put their weddings on hold for the past two years, 2022 is a time where loved ones can truly celebrate the way they used to. With the amount of anticipation and time that brides have had to plan, this year’s wedding trends seem to fully embrace grandiosity and individuality.

BOLD COLOR PALETTES

In 2022, you can expect to see big celebrations of color across various wedding styles. Your daughter may be pursuing palettes that bring out brilliant hues for her floral arrangements, bridesmaid dresses, and table settings.

Many trends this year are following monochromatic color schemes, or vivid pops of color interspersed with traditional neutrals. This especially goes for the bridal party, which will often showcase coordinated shades rather than the same dress as we’ve traditionally seen.

Designers are also working in more metallics into color combinations like for table settings and reception decor, coupling golds with jewel tones or rusted reds, or silver with saturated earth tones. This isn’t to say that classic, softer shades aren’t still gracing wedding aesthetics, as gentle evergreen and pastel blue have remained incredibly popular— your daughter just may use even more of it for the overall design.

REGENCY ERA

If your daughter loved Jane Austen’s work growing up, or has been hooked on the Netflix series, Bridgerton, she may be finding her wedding inspiration from the Regency era like many other brides this year. It’s an understandable muse, as Britain’s early 19th century extravagance creates an atmosphere of absolute romance.

From venues with opulent vintage charm, to lush florals festooned along the aisle and reception tables, the themes of cottage and Regency core certainly make for an undoubtedly memorable wedding esthetic. Many brides have fully embraced the era into their ensemble with sparkling tiaras, long lace gloves, and empire waists.

While much of this particular theme flaunts on the side of grandiose, your daughter may decide to focus more on the little details to hint at the era. Think of soft pastels, pressed flowers, and vintage patterns to embrace the romance of Regency, rather than its completely indulgent embellishments.

GLAMOUROUS STYLE

As many couples have been waiting years to truly embrace their special day, brides are making up for lost time when it comes to their wedding day look. Your daughter may have her sights set on full ball gowns, bodices adorned with crystals or pearls, and luxurious trains and veils.

Certain styles have also made a fabulous return to wedding gowns this year. Sleeves are certainly popular again, with many designs doting romantic chiffon and puff styles cascading off the shoulders. We’re also seeing more lace, pearls and crystals in embroidery, as well as wedding capes! These glamorous gowns are showing more individualistic touches, making brides feel truly one-of-a-kind on their special day.

We can expect the wedding party and guests to follow suit! Weddings this year may be the first formal occasion for many after going a substantial time going without, and everyone will be looking forward to a reason to dress their absolute best.

WEDDING WEEKEND TWISTS

As families and friends are able to come together again, couples have been looking for ways to make their momentous occasion even more memorable throughout their wedding weekend. Think of more activities in between the welcome parties and farewell brunches, all with a few more twists on the entertainment.

Brides have been embracing a less traditional take on their events and incorporating fun diversions that are representative of their personalities or interests. Many wedding planners are taking on themed welcome parties, rehearsal dinners, and receptions like Old Hollywood, 70’s disco, and so on.

There’s also been an uptick in entertainment, particularly at the weddings themselves, but also prior to the big day. Couples want to give their guests a truly memorable experience, so your daughter might be planning a few surprise moments or pop-up performances somewhere in the wedding festivities.
